What distinguishes people of great success from the rest?

Virtually all of us dream of success, but almost everyone imagines it differently. Personally, as the creator of this blog, the successive Instagram channel (@ success.worth.billions) and the motivational speaker - I almost always meet people who want to achieve some success. I am a person who enjoys motivating people and helping them achieve their goals.

You won't meet me at any lectures or trainings, you won't buy any motivational and inspirational course from me. My motivational and inspirational activity is sincerely wanting to help people, you can call me crazy but happiness of other people is also happiness for me. I believe that everyone deserves luck, but not everyone can arouse the motivation to act, and my mission is to teach you this.

Ok, getting to the heart of the matter, I want to give you my point of view what success is and why we don't all achieve it?

In principle, you can define success people in a few words: they are people who never give up and are highly motivated.

However, I will get deeper into this topic and let me introduce you to some things that successful people do differently.

It turns out that even brilliant and very fulfilled people are helpless when it comes to finding out what was the source of their success or failure. The answer, which arises spontaneously - that is, that we were born endowed with specific predispositions - is really just a small part of the whole puzzle. In fact, decades of research into the phenomenon of achieving success suggest that successful people achieve their goals not only because they are what they are, but also because they do what they do.

Set specific goals

When setting a goal, try to make it as specific as possible. "Lose 3 kilos" is a better goal than "lose some weight" because it clearly shows what success is.

When you know exactly what you want, you keep your motivation high, until you reach this goal. Also think about what specific actions you need to take to achieve this goal. The very decision that we will "eat less" or "sleep more" is too vague - set specific and unambiguous goals. "During the week I will go to bed at 10pm" leaves no doubt what to do and makes verification easier

Take advantage of every opportunity

Considering how busy we are all and how many goals we try to achieve simultaneously, it is not surprising that we are still wasting the opportunities to work on their implementation - we simply do not notice them. Didn't you really have time to work out today? You didn't have a moment to call back?

Working on achieving goals means taking advantage of opportunities before they slip out of our hands. To take advantage of your free time, specify in advance when and where you will take any action you want to take. Be as specific as possible (e.g. "On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I will practice for 30 minutes before going to work"). Research shows that this kind of planning will make the brain detect and use this opportunity when it occurs, increasing the chances of success by up to 300%.

Remember how much is still to be done

Achieving any goal also requires reliable and systematic monitoring of progress - if not by others, then by yourself. If you don't know how you are doing, you can adjust your behavior or strategies accordingly. Check your progress often - once a week or even every day, depending on your goal.

Be an optimist who has his feet on the ground

When setting a goal, try to engage a lot of positive thinking at all costs. Believing in your own potential for success is very useful, it allows you to resurrect and maintain motivation.

Regardless of what you do, you should never underestimate the difficulties that will stand in the way of the task. Most goals worth pursuing require time, planning, effort and perseverance. Studies show that just thinking about different things comes relatively easily and does not help us in preparing for further travel, which significantly increases the possibility of failure.

Focus on being better and not just good

It is important to believe in your own ability to achieve goals, but it is also important to believe that we can develop that ability.

It is often thought that intelligence, personality or physical fitness are given to us once and for all - that no matter what we do, nothing can be improved. As a result, we focus on goals that consist only of proving ourselves that we are good at something, instead of developing to acquire new skills. Fortunately, research that has been carried out for decades has shown that the conviction of the invariability of possessed abilities is fundamentally false - all abilities can be shaped. Recognizing that you can change will allow you to make better decisions and more fully use your potential. People whose goals are to improve themselves, and not just to be in something good, approach the difficulties of peace and enjoy travel as much as destination.

You have to have character

By nature I mean the willingness to engage in the implementation of far-reaching plans and not succumb to adversity. Studies show that people with character are better educated and have a higher average grade at the university. Character decides which cadets will withstand the first difficult year in West Point. The character even decides which stage the Scripps National Spelling Bee participants will reach, a contest to evaluate memory spelling skills.

If you are not particularly strong at the moment, the information that you can do something about it is great news. People who lack character most often think that they do not have the innate abilities of successful people. If you think the same ... well, you can't say it mildly - you are wrong. As I mentioned before, effort, planning, persistence and good strategies are what really matters to succeed. Understanding this will not only help you better understand yourself and your goals, but also to perform miracles when it comes to shaping your own character.

Exercise your strong will muscle

Strong-will muscle works like other muscles in the body - when it is not used, it weakens over time. However, when you exercise it regularly, using it well, it will strengthen and make it easier for you to achieve your goals.

To practice willpower, choose a difficult task that requires sacrifice from you that you don't really feel like doing. Stop eating things that are high in fat, start doing 100 sit-ups a day, straighten up when you find yourself slouching, try to learn something new. When you notice that you want to give up, give up or simply don't feel like it - don't give in to weakness. Start with one step and create a plan of how you will deal with problems when they occur ("if I have a great desire for chips, I will eat a piece of dried fruit"). It will be difficult at first, but it will get easier over time and that is what it is about. As you increase your strength, you can take on more challenges and intensify your self-control exercises.

Don't fate

No matter how strong your strong will muscle, it's important to always remember that it has its limits. If you overload him for some time you will lose energy.

If possible, do not try to take on two difficult tasks at once (e.g. quit smoking and go on a diet). Do not put yourself at risk - many people have too much confidence in their resistance to temptation and as a result lead to situations in which they are teeming with. Successful people know that you shouldn't hinder your task, all you need is your current level of difficulty.

Focus on what you do, not what you did

Do you want to get rid of unnecessary kilos, quit smoking or control your impetuous character? So start planning how you are going to replace bad habits with good ones instead of focusing only on the bad ones.

Research on crowding out thoughts (e.g., "Don't think about white bears now!") Has shown that trying to avoid a particular thought makes it even more strongly present in our minds. It is the same with behavior - trying to avoid bad habits, we will sooner strengthen them than weaken them.

If you want to change your behavior, ask "what will I do instead?" For example, if you try to gain control over your impetuous behavior and stop being angry, you can arrange with you that "if I start to feel angry, then I will take three deep breaths to to calm down. " By using a deep breath as a substitute for anger, over time, bad habits lose their power and disappear completely.

So I hope that after learning about nine things that successful people do differently, you have gained more insight into what you did right from the beginning. More importantly, however, I hope that you can already point out the mistakes that disturb you in life, and that from now on you will use this knowledge to your advantage. Remember, you don't have to become someone else to get bigger wins. Success does not depend on who you are, but what you do.
